Police have registered a case against a student in connection with the death of a student of a private engineering college in Ganjam district of Odisha. The accused has been identified as Biswajeet Jena. Biswajit is the nephew of Odisha Transport Minister Vibhuti Jena. Police have registered a case against him under section 108 of BNS for abetment of suicide.
According to the information, the deceased student was studying in third year BCA in the college, while Biswajit Jena is said to be a final year BCA student in the same college. According to the complaint, there was a love affair between the two.
Main reason for problems in love relationship – family members
In the complaint lodged by the maternal uncle of the student, it has been alleged that the student was under mental stress due to the ongoing dispute in the relationship. Family members say that problems in relationships are one of the main reasons for this incident.
The student was taken out of the college hostel in a critical condition in the morning. The student had attempted suicide by hanging herself. He was immediately taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur, where doctors declared him dead.
Police investigated the matter in the college
As part of the investigation into the case, the police have seized the student’s mobile phone, laptop and CCTV footage of the hostel premises. Apart from this, the police reached the college and interrogated the student’s friends and acquaintances and gathered information related to the incident.
Brahmapur SP gave information about the case
Brahmapur SP Shravan Vivek M. said that a third year BCA student of a private college in Golanthara police station area has died. The maternal uncle of the student has filed an FIR against Biswajit Jena. Post-mortem of the dead body has been done and investigation into the matter is ongoing. At present, the police is investigating the case keeping all the aspects in mind. Further legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
