Before IPL 2027, a huge trade deal has been done between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Under this deal, Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals, while Kuldeep Yadav has joined the Lucknow team. Pant was taking Rs 27 crore in LSG for the last two seasons, but he will get Rs 15 crore in the Delhi team.
Rishabh Pant has joined Delhi Capitals with a loss of Rs 12 crore. But after he leaves LSG, the biggest question is who will take over the captaincy of the Lucknow team? Mitchell Marsh’s name is being considered at the forefront to replace Rishabh Pant as captain.
Will Mitchell Marsh become the captain?
Even before the trade deal between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, Rishabh Pant had left the captaincy of the LSG team. If we look for captaincy options, the Lucknow team has big names like Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran. But a report has claimed that Marsh is leading in the race to become the new captain.
Lucknow Super Giants team’s head coach Justin Langer and Director of Cricket Tom Moody, both come from Australia, so it would not be a surprising decision for Mitchell Marsh to take the captaincy. Let us tell you that Marsh is also the captain of Australia’s T20 team.

Sanjiv Goenka’s Australian connection
If Mitchell Marsh is made the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants, it will not be the first time that an Australian becomes the captain of the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team. Earlier in the year 2017, Rising Pune Super Giants had replaced MS Dhoni and made Australian player Steve Smith the new captain. Sanjeev Goenka was the owner of Super Giants.
