The Iran war was not yet completely over when UAE and other countries of West Asia showed interest in purchasing India’s BrahMos missile. BrahMos, one of the selected supersonic cruise missiles in the world, had destroyed not just one or two but 11 military bases of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Amid the Iran-Israel conflict, the global demand for India’s supersonic cruise missile BrahMos seems to be increasing rapidly. Many countries of West Asia including UAE are showing interest in purchasing BrahMos missile from India.
During the recent conflict in the Middle East, Iran’s ballistic, hypersonic and cluster missiles targeted Israel as well as US military bases in the Gulf countries. The impact of Iranian missiles and drone attacks was seen in UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Qatar and Iraq. America’s defense systems like Patriot and THAAD were also seen struggling to stop these attacks on many occasions.

A major reason for the increasing demand for BrahMos is its proven performance in war. During Operation Sindoor, India’s BrahMos missile targeted 11 military bases of Pakistan. It was claimed that Chinese-made air defense systems like HQ-9 and HQ-16 could neither stop BrahMos nor detect it in time.
Vietnam also interested
After Philippines, now Vietnam is also moving forward with the purchase of coastal version of BrahMos missile from India. This version is capable of targeting enemy warships from the beach. Considering UAE’s long maritime border and coastal oil installations, it is believed that it may also be interested in this version. In the year 2022, Philippines had purchased five BrahMos batteries from India and their supply has also been done.
Russia’s interest
According to reports, Russia is also showing interest in BrahMos missile. BrahMos has been developed jointly by India and Russia, but due to Ukraine war, pressure on Russia’s missile stockpile has increased, due to which it may consider purchasing BrahMos from India.
