Western Railway has released a detailed timeline of its action in the case of stabbing in Churchgate-Nallasopara fast local train. According to Railways, after the incident, Railways, RPF, GRP and medical team took immediate action in a coordinated manner and took the injured passenger to the hospital.
According to the information, on the night of June 23, there was a dispute between 22-year-old Mayank Lohar and another passenger traveling in train number 90663 (Churchgate-Nallasopara Fast Local) over closing the coach door during heavy rain. This dispute took place in a train running between Andheri and Borivali stations.
The accused jumped before the train stopped and ran away
According to the Railways, during the dispute, the accused stabbed Mayank Lohar in the stomach, due to which he was seriously injured. The train reached platform number 6 of Borivali station at 11:04 pm. The accused fled from the spot even before the train came to a complete stop.
According to details released by Western Railway, within just three minutes of the train reaching the station, at 11:07 pm, GRP and RPF personnel reached the concerned coach and provided assistance to the injured passenger. After this, at 11:10 the stretcher, Hamal and medical aid team reached the spot.
The injured were taken to the medical room of Borivali station.

At 11:12 pm, the injured passenger was carefully taken out of the coach and taken for first aid. At 11:22 he was taken to the Emergency Medical Room (EMR) at Borivali station, where the doctor immediately examined him.
Between 11:22 pm and 11:42 pm, Railways, RPF and GRP officials made arrangements to take the injured to the hospital. On the advice of the doctor, the injured was sent to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali via ambulance at 11:42 pm. During this period, GRP and RPF personnel also remained with him.
The ambulance reached Shatabdi Hospital at 11:52 pm. At the same time, at around 1 o’clock in the night, ADRM and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Mumbai Central reached Borivali station and reviewed the entire incident.
Investigative agencies are scanning CCTV
Western Railways says that the emergency response system was activated as soon as the information was received. Railway Protection Force, GRP and medical staff took coordinated action and provided prompt medical aid to the injured. Also, CCTV footage and other evidence have been secured and handed over to the investigating agencies.
According to the Railways, it is clear from the available records that there was no unnecessary delay in providing assistance after the train reached Borivali and all concerned agencies took prompt action.
At present, the matter is being investigated by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and after the investigation, other facts related to the incident are likely to come to light.
