Meanwhile, Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra, who is considered close to him, has also given a shocking statement.

Mahua Moitra and Shubhendu Adhikari are currently staunch rivals of each other. However, he has praised Shubhendu Adhikari in an interview given to BBC. Mahua has described Bengal CM as her good friend. He said that when I was going through bad times, Shubhendu Adhikari had helped me.

Mahua said, ‘Shubhendu is my good friend, he supported me a lot when we were in a party. When I contested elections from Karimpur, he was the only one who came to campaign for me. Whatever help I needed, he gave it to me.

Mahua Moitra recalled that in 2014, when she was supposed to get the Lok Sabha ticket, but due to some reason could not get it, I cried a lot throughout the night, only Shubhendu Adhikari supported me. TMC MP said, ‘Shubhendu told me – No sister, I am here. These are all emotional connections. Today we are in a different party. There is no discussion, this is a different matter.

Subhendu Adhikari, who was close to Mamata Banerjee, was one of the prominent leaders of TMC. He left TMC and joined BJP before the 2021 assembly elections and after BJP’s bumper victory in 2026, he has become the head of the state.

Mahua contested its first election in 2016

Mahua had first contested the assembly elections in 2016 from Karimpur seat. At that time Subhendu Adhikari used to be the supervisor of TMC of Nadia district. In 2019, she got the Lok Sabha ticket from Krishnanagar seat and came to Delhi as an MP. After that in 2024 also he won the election from Krishnanagar.
