Now this examination has been postponed, it will be conducted on July 5; Know important details

An important update has come out for thousands of candidates preparing to become teachers in Odisha. Board of Secondary Education, Odisha has taken a big decision to postpone the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET 2026). Now this exam will be conducted on 5th July 2026 instead of the earlier announced date. Now the exam will be conducted in two different shifts on the same day.

According to the information released by the board, the main reason for postponing the examination is conflict with other big recruitment examinations. Around the same time, recruitment examinations for various posts were being conducted by the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC). In such a situation, a large number of candidates were facing difficulty in appearing in both the examinations. The board took this decision in view of the continuous complaints and demands of the candidates.

According to the officials, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the interest of the students so that no candidate is deprived of the examination. Experts associated with the education sector believe that conducting two important examinations at the same time not only increases the pressure on the students but also affects the examination process.

What is the required qualification?

Talking about eligibility, it will be mandatory for general category candidates to obtain minimum 60 percent marks i.e. 90 marks. Whereas for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and Disabled (PH) category, minimum 55 percent i.e. 82 marks has been fixed.
