According to the latest bank holiday list, most bank branches across India will function normally on June 25, while many cities and states will have a holiday on June 26 due to Muharram.
According to the official holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), today, June 25, there is a bank holiday only in Andhra Pradesh (Vijayawada Circle) on the occasion of Muharram. In Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and other states, the government holiday of Muharram has been fixed for tomorrow i.e. 26th June. Why was the holiday changed in Kerala?
Earlier in Kerala, a public holiday was proposed on June 25 on the occasion of Muharram. However, after sighting of the moon and talks with Muslim organizations, the state government changed the holiday to June 26, the day of Ashura. 26 June 2026 (Friday)- Due to Muharram (Ashura), banks will remain closed in 18 main banking circles including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Jammu, and Srinagar.
27 June 2026 (Saturday) – It is the fourth Saturday of the month, hence all banks will remain closed across India.
28 June 2026 (Sunday)- It is a weekly holiday.
29 June 2026 (Monday)- Banks will remain closed only in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) on the occasion of Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti.
30 June 2026 (Tuesday)- Banks will remain closed only in Aizawl (Mizoram) on the day of Remna Ni.
