Indian cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be given a separate changing room from the senior players due to under-16 safety rules in the upcoming T20 series against England. He is still 15 years old, hence this decision has been taken. Actually, this decision has been taken under the safeguarding rules applicable to players below 16 years of age. As per the safeguarding rules applicable to this series being held under the jurisdiction of ICC, players who are below 16 years of age are not allowed to use the changing rooms with adult players.
15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is on the verge of becoming India’s youngest cricketer by debuting in the two-match T20 series against Ireland. Let us tell you that the Indian team will leave for England for the five-match T20 series starting from July 1. At present, it is not clear whether such arrangements will be in place during the two matches to be held in Ireland or not. This is because those matches will be played under the rules of Cricket Ireland rather than the ICC.
The England and Wales Cricket Board clarified that the series to be held in England is like an ICC event, where the ICC’s safeguarding rules as well as the ECB’s ‘Safe Hands’ policy will be in full effect.

Under these strict security protocols, ECB has also made it clear that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s parents will stay with him throughout the UK tour and will also travel with him. Considering Vaibhav’s age, the board said that this time a special exemption has been given apart from the normal team protocol. Under this, their parents have been allowed to stay in the same hotel where the Indian team will stay.
According to the ECB, this additional measure will assure the board and team management that Vaibhav will get the full support and care of his family, which is very important for the mental and physical balance of a player at this age.
