This bank is ahead in the race
In fact, according to recent RBI data, 1.82 lakh new credit cards have been issued to the people by SBI Bank in May 2026. During this period, a total of Rs 38556 crore was spent on SBI cards, which is 2% more than in April. These figures are much more than any other institution.

Data from other banks
While SBI has issued the maximum number of credit cards, after this the figures of other banks have also come out, which are as follows:
- ICICI Bank issued 1.68 lakh new credit cards in May 2026. Due to which an expenditure of Rs 32,818 crore was incurred, which is 1% more than in April.
- HDFC Bank issued 1.42 lakh new credit cards in May. Due to which cardholders spent Rs 59,138 crore.
- An increase of 2% has been recorded in HDFC Bank cards per month.
- Kotak Mahindra Bank issued 54,000 new credit cards. Due to which the expenditure increased by 6% to Rs 6,389 crore.
- Axis Bank has issued 52,000 new credit cards in May. Due to which the expenditure increased by 6% to Rs 23,301 crore.

What do the figures say?
These figures show how much the trend of credit cards is increasing among the people in the country. People are also making new cards and using them more than before. Due to this, there is continuous strength in the credit card business of banks. However, the biggest thing is that people have faith in government banks and not in private institutions. In such a situation, SBI is highest in the list of people.
