The country’s acting President Delsey Rodriguez said on Friday (June 26, 2026) morning that so far 589 people have been confirmed dead, while 2,980 people have been injured in the accident. According to the report of the Associated Press, during talks with Venezuelan government and military officials, Acting President Delsey Rodriguez said that search and rescue operations remain our biggest priority at this time. We are busy saving the people buried and trapped under the debris and we are putting our whole lives into this work.
He said, ‘The double earthquake of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude that occurred on the evening of Wednesday (June 24, 2026) has had the most severe impact on the Venezuelan coastal state of La Guaira. The entire area has been taken under military control and rescue teams are continuously searching for survivors and providing them food and water.

However, there is still a possibility of the death toll from this devastating natural disaster increasing further. Thousands of people are reported missing after the double earthquake. In such a situation, the teams engaged in relief and rescue work are busy searching for people and taking them out from under the debris of collapsed buildings.
