‘By hiding the sacrifice of 6 soldiers in Operation Sindoor…’, said Pawan Kheda, referring to Rajnath Singh’s Parliament speech.

Congress on Saturday (27 June 2026) alleged that the soldiers were insulted by hiding information about the sacrifice of 6 soldiers during Operation Sindoor and the country’s Parliament was also misled on this subject. Party’s media department head Pawan Khera shared on ‘X’ a video of a part of the speech given by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session last year, in which Singh can be heard saying that there was no loss to the brave soldiers of the country during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

In fact, the names of 6 military personnel who were martyred in the line of duty during Operation Sindoor last year have been inscribed on the National War Memorial. These military personnel include the names of 5 Army personnel and 1 Indian Air Force personnel. This is the first time after the military operation conducted by the Indian Armed Forces in May 2025, that the government has released the names of these six personnel.

Defense Minister does not know the truth – Pawan Kheda

Kheda said, ‘There are only two possibilities. Either when the Defense Minister addressed the Parliament, he was not aware that 6 soldiers had been martyred. If so, then it is a serious question mark on the minister, who is not aware of the affairs of the very ministry he is leading. He said the second possibility was that Singh knew the truth and yet chose to mislead Parliament. According to Kheda, this is even more serious than that, because it proves that this government lies to the country, under oath, in the temple of democracy.

Brave soldiers made supreme sacrifice while performing their duty- Congress

The Congress leader said, ‘Whatever may be the truth, some facts do not change. Our 6 brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, but their sacrifice was hidden. They were not given the respect and recognition they deserved and their families were also deprived of the transparency they expected.

He said, ‘This is an insult to our soldiers and no true patriot can remain silent or satisfied on this.’ After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 last year, the Indian Army had carried out massive attacks on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’. The six military personnel whose names are inscribed on wall number 3D of the Tyag Chakra of the National War Memorial include Subedar Major Pawan Kumar of the Army, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer M Muralinaik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh and Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force.
