Bharat Taxi Launch: Today i.e. 27th June, the country’s first cooperative model based taxi service ‘Bharat Taxi’ is going to be launched in Gujarat. This service will be inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Bharat Taxi was soft-launched in Gujarat in December 2025. This is being seen as an initiative to further Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of ‘prosperity through cooperation’. The main objective of this initiative is to promote cooperation in the transport sector.
The biggest feature of Bharat Taxi is that the taxi drivers will not be just employees, but they will work like owners associated with this platform. This means that along with better earning opportunities, they will also get benefits like more rights in their work and social security. The government believes that this model has been done to make taxi drivers financially strong.
How will Bharat Taxi work?
Bharat Taxi is the first ride-hailing service in the country in which taxi drivers will be its owners and partners. However, this platform will work on cooperative model. It has been prepared by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited with the help of major cooperative institutions of the country like NCDC, Amul, NAFED, IFFCO, NABARD and other institutions. Its purpose is to make the driver a partner in the company.
