Uddhav Thackeray held the first press conference on Saturday (June 27) after Shiv Sena UBT MPs joined Eknath Shinde faction. During this, Uddhav Thackeray said, “Shiv Sainiks are with me. You are seeing the behavior of all of them. Now I feel ashamed as to how they all stayed with us.”
He further said, “These MPs were elected on my words. Now they are saying that there is no use in coming, but they were elected because of my coming.” Further targeting the MPs, he said, “There is no guarantee for the farmers but these MPs have a guarantee for lies.” On meeting CM Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray said, “We had a high-level meeting. The report of tomorrow’s meeting will be known in the coming days.”
CM Fadnavis and Uddhav seen in a flight
Amid the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray were seen traveling together on the same flight from Mumbai to Nagpur on Friday. This sudden meeting has taken place at a time of serious political tension in the state. People present on the flight said that despite deep political rivalry, the two leaders kept aside bitterness and greeted each other cordially and had a brief conversation.
Many big leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT) were also on board this flight, including MLA Aditya Thackeray, Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Raut and Anil Desai, and former MP Vinayak Raut. Chief Minister Fadnavis and Uddhav Thackeray traveling in the same plane comes amid the ongoing political debate over six UBT MPs joining Shinde’s faction.
The incident comes after Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently announced that ‘Operation Tiger’ is not over yet. He hinted at the defection of more MPs from the Shiv Sena (UBT), while two Lok Sabha MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray camp formally announced their intention to join the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
