Tension in the Middle East has once again reached dangerous levels. After a drone attack on a merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz, America launched retaliatory air strikes on several Iranian military bases. Iran’s first reaction has come immediately after this action. Iranian MP Ibrahim Azizi launched a scathing attack on America and said that by attacking in the midst of talks, America has proved that it neither cares about talks nor a ceasefire.
‘The failed American President again showed his intentions’
Iranian MP Ibrahim Azizi wrote on social media, ‘America once again attacked Iran during talks. The failed US President has shown that he has no commitment to the principles of dialogue or ceasefire. As always, this reckless violation of the ceasefire will ultimately become a reason for retreat and regret for America. Now the blame game will not work.

Why did America attack?
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that on June 25, the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely, passing through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman, was attacked by a unilateral attack drone. According to CENTCOM, in response to this, on June 26, the US Army took military action against Iran and targeted several targets.
Airstrike on missile, drone and radar targets
According to the US Army, in retaliation, apart from Iran’s missile and drone storage centers, air strikes were also carried out on coastal radar bases. CENTCOM claimed that the attack on the commercial ship was completely unjustified and a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.

What did the US military say?
CENTCOM said the US military will continue to coordinate with allied countries to ensure the safe passage of all commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. America says that its army is fully alert and deployed in the entire region to ensure compliance with the agreement with Iran.
Britain also confirmed the attack
The British Army has also confirmed that a container ship was hit by a projectile off the coast of Oman. According to United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), no injuries have been reported in this incident.
IMO stopped evacuation of ships
Amidst the increasing tension, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has currently stopped the evacuation of ships stranded in the Persian Gulf. The IMO says that the evacuation will not be resumed until the safety of other ships in the area is ensured. According to IMO Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez, about 115 ships have left the strait in recent days, while about 500 ships are still present in the area.
