Former Indian wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani believes that the selectors missed an opportunity by not including young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the team for the T20 International series against Ireland.
He says that now he should be given a chance in the white ball series against England starting from Wednesday.
Contrary to expectations, Suryavanshi was not given her debut for the senior Indian team in the two-match T20 International series against Ireland. India had to face defeat by 0-2 in this series.
Now all eyes are on the five-match T20 International series against England which will start in Chester-le-Street.

Former Indian wicketkeeper and 1983 World Cup winner Syed Kirmani termed the decision of not including the 15-year-old player in the team in Belfast as a wrong decision and said that the team management should give him a chance against England.
Kirmani said, “To be honest, it was a mistake not to play him against Ireland. After losing the first T20 International against Ireland, I was really surprised not to see him in the second match. And we all saw what happened. Instead of keeping him sitting in the dressing room during the entire match, we should show more determination in including him in the Indian playing eleven.
“He is a great talent,” Kirmani said. He is a player who entertains the audience.
Former Indian spinner Maninder Singh said that Suryavanshi deserves a place in the playing eleven.
He said that this young batsman should be selected in the team, no matter at what number he is sent in the batting order.
He said, “You have to make space for Suryavanshi. Be it opening the innings or at number three or four, you can make him bat anywhere. He will bat the way he knows how. He should have been in the team (against Ireland). If you have an aggressive batsman like Suryavanshi, you have to include him somewhere.
However, former selector and wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim said that Suryavanshi’s time will definitely come in the series.
He said, “Indian think-tanks must have some plan for its debut.” I don’t think it was a mistake not to play him (against Ireland). I am sure we will see his debut soon.
