Internet connections increased 4 times
According to the government, under this campaign, today the number of internet connections in India has crossed 102.86 crore. At the same time, the price of mobile data has now come down to just Rs 8 to 10 per GB. According to government data, internet connections in India were about 25.15 crore in 2014, which will increase to 102.86 crore by 2026.
Big expansion in broadband connectivity too
Not only this, broadband service in the country has also expanded very rapidly. There were 6.1 crore broadband connections in 2014, which has increased to 99.56 crore by December 2025. Now not only in cities but fast internet speed has also reached rural areas due to which people are now connecting with Digital India. Apart from this, the benefits of digital services have also reached rural areas. Here people are using the internet for everything from withdrawing money to availing health services.
This became a big reason
The government believes that the biggest impact of the Digital India campaign has been seen in internet prices. While in 2014 the price of 1 GB mobile data was around Rs 269, today people have to spend only Rs 8 to 10 for it. Now low prices and fast internet have further inspired people to join this campaign. Now people’s use of services like online education, e-commerce, digital payment and e-governance has increased rapidly.
Fastest 5G rollout
The government says that India has made its place among the countries with the fastest 5G rollout in the world. Today 5G service has reached about 99.9 percent of the districts of the country. Not only this, fast network has increased the use of internet among the people.
