According to the latest update of India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is expected in about 19 states of the country on Thursday (July 2). According to IMD, the South-West Monsoon is progressing rapidly and in the next 2 days it is likely to reach Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, rest of Uttar Pradesh and many more areas of Punjab and Rajasthan. Rain was seen in many areas of Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many states and hilly areas of Northern India including UP, Bihar, Jharkhand on July 2. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the northeastern states also. The Meteorological Department has said that at present there is a low pressure area on the sea level from Punjab to North Bay of Bengal, due to which there is a possibility of rain. Apart from this, a trough extends from southern Gujarat to Karnataka.
Apart from South Gujarat, IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Konkan and Goa today. Apart from this, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rain at some places in coastal Karnataka. IMD has issued a red alert of heavy rain especially in the Ghat areas of Maharashtra and many areas of Mumbai.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain at many places in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. According to IMD, there is a possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places in Eastern and Western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on July 2. IMD has said that very heavy rain is also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday.
Clouds will rain from Delhi to Punjab
According to the Meteorological Department, today there is a possibility of rain in most areas of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is also expected in Western Uttar Pradesh on July 2. IMD has said that after the morning rain in Delhi, there is a possibility of thunderstorm with light and moderate rain at many places by evening.
