Australian captain Sir Don Bradman had set a world record for scoring the most runs in a Test series. Bradman had made this big record till the year (1936-1937). At that time the England team was on a tour of Australia. For Bradman, this series was a test of both his captaincy and batting. In this series, he had blown away the England team. Bradman scored 810 runs in 9 innings at an average of 90.00.
Meanwhile, his strike rate was 65.48. Also, he hit 62 fours in this series. In the test match against England, he also had 3 centuries and 1 half-century to his name. His highest score was 270 runs. During this period, he was out twice for zero, but his historic innings had put Australia in a strong position. This is the highest number of runs scored by a captain in a series in the history of Test matches.

Shubman Gill’s best score was 269 runs
After this, in the year 2025, the Indian team was on a tour of England. Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was being played between the two teams. From the Indian side, young batsman Shubman Gill, as captain, scored the most runs on the fast pitches of England. He scored 754 runs in 10 innings of 5 matches. His average during this period was 75.40 and strike rate was 65.56. Captain Gill batted brilliantly in this series and scored 4 centuries, out of which his best score was 269 runs.
In this series, Gill did not get out even once without opening the account and he hit 85 fours and 12 sixes with his bat. He presented an excellent example of captaincy and batting in modern cricket.
Graham Gooch scored 752 runs
In 1990, when Team India went on a tour of England, England team captain Graham Gooch was seen in a different mood. The series between the two countries was of only 3 matches, but captain Gooch scored 752 runs while batting in only 6 innings. His average meanwhile was 125.33, which is a dream for every batsman. In this series, Gooch played a historic inning of 333 runs at Lord’s. He scored runs at a strike rate of 62.09 in which 3 centuries and 2 half-centuries came from his bat. He scored 4 centuries and 1 half-century in the series at an average of 91.50, in which Gavaskar’s highest score was 205 runs. If we look at the figures, he faced at least 476 balls and hit more than 65 fours and 4 sixes. Playing such a historic innings against the dangerous bowlers of West Indies shows Gavaskar’s steely intentions.
