The issue of kidnapping and gangrape of foreign women in Pakistan is becoming a thorn in the neck of Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Senator Faisal Vavda has demanded Dar’s resignation over the brutality against a woman from Netherlands and Venezuela by his close relative.
According to PTI report, Faisal Vawda, who has close links with Pakistan’s military establishment, has accused both the Shahbaz government and the Maryam Nawaz government of Punjab of trying to protect the minister’s relative in this high-profile case. Let us tell you that this incident is related to two women. The woman, a resident of Netherlands and Venezuela, was abducted by some people in Lahore on June 29 and then gang-raped.
In this case, Lahore Police of Punjab has so far arrested 4 suspects, while another accused is still absconding. On Friday, a Lahore court sent the four arrested people to five-day police custody for further investigation.
Who is Muhammad Raza Dar?
Let us tell you that among those arrested is Muhammad Raza Dar, whom the investigators have considered as the main suspect in this case. Police sources told PTI that Raza Dar is the grandson of Ishaq Dar. During the investigation, the police came to know that Raza Dar had first met those two women in Singapore last year.
According to reports, all three were connected through a cryptocurrency business venture. Investigators say that Raza Dar later arranged business visas for them, due to which both of them came to Pakistan. Reacting to this development, Vavda alleged that Pakistan is being run like a family company.
What did Faisal Vavda say
He raised the question that when Ishaq Dar’s grandson has faced such serious allegations, then why is he holding the two highest positions in the country. According to the PTI report, Vavda said in a post on X, “He (Raza Dar) was arrested only after the intervention of the concerned foreign embassy. Even after such serious allegations, how can Ishaq Dar represent Pakistan in front of the world as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister?”
