There is an uproar across the country regarding the robbery case in Ram temple. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President Alok Kumar in an interview described this controversy as a deep emotional blow to the devotees. It also rejected the view that VHP should be held responsible for the functioning of the Ram Mandir Trust.
Alok Kumar said, “Whatever has happened is very unfortunate and has hurt the sentiments of Hindus around the world. We are sad, everyone is sad and there is no question of making any excuse or defending it.” He has also rejected attempts to link this entire matter with VHP, RSS and Modi government.
Regarding VHP’s International Vice President and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s General Secretary Champat Rai, Kumar said that his role in the Trust should not be considered as representing VHP. The VHP chief said, “I am not denying that Champat Rai ji has been a senior office-bearer and is currently the international vice president of VHP but we did not nominate him for that post. We did not recommend him. He does not represent VHP.”
What did Alok Kumar say about the distance from Champat Rai?
When asked why the VHP did not publicly distance itself from Champat Rai despite being so blatant, Kumar said, “You want me to dismiss him today without the results of the investigation?” He further said that till now no one has accused Champat Rai of being involved in, instigating or planning such a robbery.
Guilty people should be jailed – Alok Kumar
During the interview, Alok Kumar repeatedly stressed that no one should be spared in the investigation, irrespective of their status. He said, “We were the first to demand registration of FIR, investigation by senior officials, fast-track court and punishment of the culprits.” He further said that the culprits should be punished and this entire process should be completed in four to five months so that the Hindu society can get some satisfaction by seeing the guilty people go to jail.
