Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s 6.5 feet tall bowler Nahid Rana has broken a 20 year old record. Zimbabwe won the match by 25 runs despite scoring only 141 runs.
In the history of ODI cricket, Nahid Rana has made the record of bowling the best bowling spell for Bangladesh. In the match against Zimbabwe, he took 6 wickets for only 21 runs in 10 overs. During this period he also bowled 2 maiden overs.
20 year old record broken
Due to the lethal bowling of Nahid Rana, Zimbabwe’s team was reduced to just 141 runs. Nahid took 6 wickets for 21 runs in 10 overs. These are the best bowling figures for Bangladesh in One Day Internationals. Earlier, the record of best bowling figure for Bangladesh in ODI was in the name of Mashrafe Mortaza, who took 6 wickets in a 10 over spell against Kenya in 2006. Nahid has also taken only 6 wickets, but his economy rate is better than Mortaza (2.6).
Zimbabwe’s memorable victory
Zimbabwe had lost 8 wickets till the score of 70 in this match. But for the 9th wicket there was a partnership of 63 runs between Richard Ngarawa and Newman Nyamahuri. In this way the Zimbabwe team was somehow able to reach the score of 141. When Bangladesh team came to bat, the entire team was reduced to 116 runs.
Zimbabwe team is currently in great form. Earlier, in the only Test match, Zimbabwe had registered a historic victory over Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs, which was also Zimbabwe’s biggest win in Test cricket.
