Pakistan has once again been upset by India’s action. India had suspended the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which had a clear impact on Pakistan. The important thing is that many statements still come from Pakistan regarding this. Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir roared and said that they will take every step to get the country’s legitimate share of water.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army, in the 276th Corps Commanders Conference chaired by Army Chief General Asim Munir, it was resolved that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure water supply to the country as per the instructions of the government and the expectations of the people of Pakistan.
In the meeting, the instructions of the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting held on 24 April 2025 were also confirmed. In that meeting it was decided that any action to stop or divert water from Pakistan’s share would be considered an act of war. While reviewing the current security situation, the Corps Commanders expressed satisfaction over the operational capability, professional proficiency and combat readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
What happened regarding Afghanistan and Taliban?
It was also said in the meeting that areas under the control of Afghan Taliban are being used by terrorist organizations to carry out attacks in Pakistan, on which serious concern was expressed.
It is noteworthy that India had taken several punitive steps against Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 last year. The most prominent of these steps was the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, under which there was a provision for sharing and use of the waters of the Indus River and its tributaries.
