The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the Indian men’s team for the Asian Games 2026 on June 06. Now a big update has come out regarding the change in the squad. It is being said that star wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson can be dropped from the team. Sanju, who was a hero for Team India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, seems to be facing the second consecutive blow.
According to Times of India, Sanju Samson may be shown the door from the Asian Games squad. On July 06, BCCI had announced Team India for the three-match T20 series to be held on Zimbabwe tour, in which Sanju’s name was missing. Now the next day the update of his being out of the Asian Games came out.
These days a 5-match T20 series is being played between India and England. Sanju was a part of India’s playing 11 in the first match, which remained inconclusive due to rain. After this, Sanju was dropped from the eleven in the second T20. Vaibhav Suryavanshi got the chance in place of Sanju. Vaibhav made his international debut in the match.
Sanju is constantly being dropped from somewhere. Now it will be interesting to see when BCCI announces the changed squad for the Asian Games. At present no official information has been received regarding this.
Sanju Samson’s international career
If we look at Sanju’s international career, till now he has played 16 ODI and 65 T20 International matches. Batting in 14 innings of ODI, Sanju has scored 510 runs at an average of 56.66, which included 1 century and 3 half-centuries. While batting in 57 innings of T20 International, Sanju scored 1405 runs. During this period his average was 27.01 and strike rate was 155.42. He scored 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries.
