In the third T20 being played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England has set a target of 202 runs for India after playing first. Team India won the toss and decided to bowl first. At one time, four wickets had fallen for England’s 111 runs, but in the end Sam Curran batted stormily and took the score beyond 200. England scored 201 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Now the question is, will Shreyas Iyer be able to register his first win?
The trio of Indian fast bowlers performed effectively. Harshit Rana took two wickets each giving 40 runs in four overs and Prince Yadav took two wickets each giving 30 runs in four overs. Experienced spinners Axar Patel and Varun Chakraborty proved to be very expensive. Akshar took one wicket for 49 runs in four overs while Varun gave 35 runs in three overs and did not get any wicket.
For England, all-rounder Sam Curran scored unbeaten 41 runs in 24 balls, taking England beyond 200 runs. Arshdeep Singh bowled a maiden over in the first over, but India missed a DRS review in the same over. Jos Buttler scored 36 runs in 21 balls. Harry Brook was out after scoring 16 runs, who hit Prince for a six. However, it was Prince who had him caught by Abhishek Sharma in deep midwicket.
England had scored only 49 runs in the powerplay. Phil Salt and Jacob Bethel made a partnership of 40 runs in just 3.3 overs. Harshit dismissed Bethel and Tom Benton on two consecutive balls. Phil Salt played an inning of 70 runs in 44 balls. During this, seven fours and three sixes came from his bat. Captain Harry Brook was out after scoring 16 runs in 12 balls and Jacob Bethel was out after scoring 13 runs in 9 balls. Tom Banton could not even open an account.
Sam Curran hit four fours in his unbeaten inning of 41 runs in 21 balls. Will Jacques scored 14 runs in seven balls. He hit two sixes. Joffra Archer hit a four. He was run out after scoring five runs in two balls.
