Exam Missed Due To Rain: Reaching the examination center on time during competition exams and university exams is the biggest responsibility of every student. However, many times during the rainy season, due to rain, traffic jam or other reasons, many students are not able to reach the examination center on time even if they want to. In such cases, questions are often raised that if a large number of students miss the exam, then who will be responsible for it and can the students get a chance to take the exam again.

Recently, a similar case came to light in Nashik, Maharashtra, where due to heavy rains and road collapse, more than 300 students could not reach on time to appear for their university exams. After this the students raised the demand to conduct the examination again. In such a situation, let us tell you today who will be responsible if the exam is missed due to rain or traffic jam and can one get a second chance for it.

Rain spoils exam schedule of students in Nashik, Maharashtra

Due to incessant rains and ground subsidence at a construction site in Nashik, Maharashtra, there is a long traffic jam for several hours on Nashik Trimbakeshwar Road. On this route, students of many institutes including Sandeep Foundation College, Brahma Valley College, Sapkal College were going to appear for the examination to be held at 10 am. It was told that many students were stuck in the traffic since 8 am in the morning and could not reach the examination center on time. Its biggest impact was on first year and second year engineering students and second year and third year pharmacy students. More than 300 students missed their exams. After this, the students demanded from the university and the concerned authorities that the examinations held on Wednesday should be canceled and a new date should be announced for them. The students say that the situation was completely due to natural reasons and it was not their fault.

Is the exam repeated in such cases?

If a large number of students are deprived of the examination due to any natural disaster, heavy rain, flood, road closure or other extraordinary circumstances, then sometimes the examination conducting agency may make different arrangements. However, there is no single rule for this and the final decision is taken only by the concerned examination conducting agency or college. If necessary, the agency may make re-examination, new examination date or other alternative arrangements for the affected students, but this decision entirely depends on the situation and the concerned examination authority.

Gujarat government gave a second chance

This has been seen before also in Gujarat, due to rain and water shortage, many students could not give the supplementary examination of class 10th and 12th. After this, the state government had announced that a separate examination would be conducted for those students who missed the examination due to rain. The education department had asked the students to continue their preparation as a new examination will be conducted for them after the current supplementary examination is over.

Where can I complain?

If a student’s exam is missed due to natural disaster, administrative system or large-scale traffic jam, then first of all the concerned university, exam conducting agency or board can be contacted. If a large number of candidates are affected, the examination authority can review the circumstances and decide on re-examination or alternative arrangements.
