Flex Fuel Technology Working: Due to increasing pollution in the country and diesel and petrol becoming expensive every day, the government has bet on ethanol. Now ethanol is available in the entire country. Let us tell you that right now flex fuel technology is being discussed a lot in the auto industry. Big auto companies are adopting this technology. Due to which now the general public has also started taking interest in flex fuel.
Many types of questions are arising in people’s minds regarding flex fuel. So let us understand today in very simple words how this technology works and whether it causes less pollution than CNG gas.
How does flex fuel technology work?
Let us tell you that flex fuel means flexible fuel. In vehicles equipped with this technology, you can mix any percentage of ethanol along with petrol in the same tank. Be it E20 or E85.
A special ethanol sensor is installed inside the flex fuel engine. As soon as you fill the fuel, this sensor immediately senses how much ethanol is mixed in the fuel. After this, the ECU of the vehicle automatically adjusts the fuel supply and engine timing so that the vehicle runs smoothly without jerking.

Does CNG cause less pollution?
Now talking about pollution, let us tell you that flex fuel is considered a very good fuel in terms of environment. CNG is a fossil fuel that comes from underground and releases some carbon when burnt.
Whereas ethanol is completely plant-based which is made from sugarcane and grains. When the vehicle runs on E85 or 100% ethanol. So the harmful gases and greenhouse gases emitted from the silencer are significantly reduced compared to CNG, due to which the air remains very clean.
Who is the real boss?
When it comes to performance, the flex fuel engine wins in this also. Because after installation of CNG kit, the pickup of vehicles often reduces a bit. By driving a flex fuel car, you get the same powerful pickup and power as a normal petrol car.
But CNG is still ahead in terms of mileage. Because ethanol has less energy density than petrol, the mileage of the vehicle in flex fuel mode reduces by about 15 to 20 percent compared to petrol. But its low price compensates for this loss.
