Tips for saving money: Generally, people living in big cities complain that they do not have any savings left by the end of the month. More than half of the salary is spent on house rent, transport and buying groceries.
Especially, if managing expenses has become a challenge for many working people living in cities like Mumbai-Bengaluru. Amidst all this, a person living in Bengaluru has told about some easy habits which are helping him in saving money without making any major compromise in his everyday life.
This person named Akshay CN shared these tips on his Instagram page @bangalore_viral. In the video, he told how by making small changes in his lifestyle and spending habits, he reduced unnecessary expenses while maintaining his lifestyle. In the caption of the post, Akshay wrote, “How I reduced my expenses in Bengaluru without compromising my lifestyle.”
Most economical to live near metro
First of all, Akshay did not choose any expensive or fancy area for his living, but gave importance to living near the metro station. Akshay wrote, “Instead of going to any ‘fancy’ area, I decided to live near the metro. Initially the fare was a bit high, but I saved a lot of money in daily commuting, petrol and auto expenses and also reduced mental stress.” He told that due to less travel time and less transport expenses, there was a clear difference in his monthly expenses.
less expense on convenience
Akshay told that while living in Bengaluru, he gradually started reducing his expenses for his convenience. The scale of expenditure gradually increased during the month due to quick delivery, auto subscription and small online purchases. Instead of last minute, Akshay started planning the entire weekend in advance.
Akshay says that going to a cafe or pub without thinking, spending money when something suddenly comes to mind, all these things affect the savings without immediately realizing it. Akshay further said, “Instead of spending without thinking, I started planning my weekends. Visiting cafes, pubs without a plan and spending on whims, depletes savings faster than people realize in Bengaluru.”
Pressure to maintain lifestyle
In the video, Akshay also talked about the pressure on people in Bengaluru’s work culture to constantly improve their lifestyle. Here many people spend money just to show themselves updated from outside or to keep up with the trends around them.
Akshay told that like others, he stopped upgrading his gadgets. Instead of relying on restaurants and online food delivery every day, cooking at home not only resulted in savings but also on health. At the end of his post, Akshay wrote that having a higher salary does not solve your financial problems. Better habits matter more.
