Brecht Spybrook, a spokesman for the Local Labor Inspection Service, told Reuters that rescue teams were able to gain very limited access to only one of the two elevator shafts.
He said that the cause of the fire has not been known yet. The fire and smoke spread rapidly through the elevator shaft and engulfed the underground portion as well, causing great difficulty in relief and rescue operations. At present, the search for the missing people is going on and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
