England won the second match of the three-match ODI series being played between India and England by 4 wickets. With this defeat, the Indian team is tied at 1-1 in the series and now the third ODI to be played on July 19 has become a decisive match. Batting first, Team India could score only 233 runs. In reply, England achieved the target in the 45th over. After the match, captain Shubman Gill admitted that the team had lost the match by continuously losing wickets in the middle overs.

Referring to Washington Sundar’s injury, Gill said that it did not affect the team much because the main bowlers completed their quota. However, he admitted that the momentum of the match had gone out of India’s hands. Praising England’s experienced batsman Joe Root, Gill said, ‘Joe Root is an expert player in chasing such targets. He played a very brilliant innings.
Root led England to victory
Chasing the target of 234 runs, England did not have a good start, but Joe Root kept one end in check. He scored unbeaten 99 runs in 133 balls with the help of 9 fours and led the team to victory in the 45th over. Will Jacques scored 30 runs, while Gus Atkinson returned unbeaten after scoring 23 runs. Gurnoor Brar took 2 wickets for India. Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Dubey and Akshar Patel got 1 wicket each.

Middle order disintegrated within 15 runs
The Indian team, which came to bat first after losing the toss, had made a good start. Virat Kohli scored 65 runs and Shreyas Iyer played a strong partnership by scoring 66 runs. It seemed that India would score big, but the middle order completely disintegrated in front of the sharp bowling of Joffra Archer. The Indian team lost 4 important wickets in just 15 runs, due to which the hope of making a big score was lost. Rohit Sharma also got out after scoring 26 runs in this match.
