Director Aditya Dhar ended the year 2025 with great memories. He brought the film ‘Dhurandhar’ in December which turned out to be a huge blockbuster. In March 2026, he brought its second part ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Both the films looted the box office and earned Rs 3100 crore worldwide. Now there are reports that after back to back blockbusters, he can make a film on a great military commander. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma has talked to him regarding this. It is expected that Aditya can visit Assam in August.
CM Himanta Biswa Sharma started talks
According to PTI report, on Thursday, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Aditya Dhar in a Facebook live session. He made a big revelation by calling Aditya one of the best filmmakers of today’s times. He told that he has approached Aditya Dhar for a biopic on the great military commander of Assam Lachit Borphukan.

Assam CM himself is coming forward with this project and he is very interested in it. He said, ‘We can take the works of Lachit Borphukan across the world. If our government makes a film on him, it will be a very special achievement for us.
Aditya Dhar will go to Assam in August
According to Himanta Biswa Sharma, his conversation with Aditya Dhar on this subject has been positive. Aditya is going to visit Assam in August to move forward in this direction. According to Assam CM, if for some reason Aditya Dhar is not able to work on this biopic, then he will contact other filmmakers.

Who was Lachit Borphukan?
Lachit Borphukan is counted among the greatest military commanders of Assam. He worked as a military commander in the Ahom kingdom. He led the battle of Saraighat in 1671 and defeated the Mughal army. Born in 1622, Lachit left this world in the year 1672 at the age of 50.
