Former Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi has said that he will finally be able to return to his country and will probably celebrate Diwali in India this year. Lalit Modi was accused of violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act in the IPL 2009 held in South Africa, due to which the ED had imposed a fine of crores of rupees on him. But the Appellate Tribunal has recently ruled in favor of Lalit.
Lalit Modi wrote emotionally on social media, “Yes, I am finally waiting to return to my country. Hopefully, I will celebrate Diwali in a grand style in India. I am eagerly waiting to meet old friends and family after leaving India on May 12, 2010. Satyamev Jayate.”

Very excited about returning to India after one and a half decade. Some time back, in an interview, Lalit Modi had told that he had decided to leave India not because of legal action but because of the death threats he was receiving from Dawood Ibrahim.
In fact, giving relief to Lalit Modi, the Appellate Tribunal had canceled most of the findings and penalties of ED. Lalit Modi said that what he had been saying repeatedly for the last 16 years has now been approved by the court.
