Amidst the increasing tension in the Middle East, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mujtaba Khamenei has given a big statement. He said that Iran considers the protection of Lebanon’s Hezbollah fighters as its strategic responsibility. He also said that the condition of any agreement with America to end the war would be that Israel should stop its attacks on Lebanon completely and without any conditions.
Reply to Hezbollah chief’s letter
Khamenei responded to the letter of allegiance sent by Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qasim and the organization’s fighters on the social media platform ‘X’. He praised the patience, sacrifice and courage of Hezbollah’s fighters and described the organization as an “unshakable rock on the front lines of resistance against Israel.”

“Jihad and resistance are the only way”
In his message, Khamenei said that now the only way forward is jihad and resistance. He claimed that those who struggle continuously will definitely get divine victory and those who fight in favor of truth will win. The Iranian Supreme Leader said that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the protection of Hezbollah and the territorial integrity of Lebanon as its strategic responsibility. He made clear that any agreement with the US to end this “imposed war” must include a complete end to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
Tribute to the people of southern Lebanon and Nasrallah
Khamenei also praised the patience and support of the people of southern Lebanon. He paid tribute to slain Hezbollah chief Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and other commanders of the resistance movement. He said that Hezbollah fighters have transformed this organization from a small sapling to a huge and strong tree and have increased the respect of Lebanon in the entire Islamic world.
The statement came amidst regional tension
This statement of Khamenei has come at a time when tension is continuously increasing in the Middle East. This is being considered a clear indication of Iran’s political and ideological support towards Hezbollah. At the same time, it has also become clear that Iran is linking any comprehensive agreement with ending Israel’s military operations in Lebanon and maintaining the territorial integrity of Lebanon.
Discussion also took place between Trump and the President of Lebanon
Earlier, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun had told US President Donald Trump that it is necessary for Israel to completely withdraw from Lebanese territory to maintain stability in the country and for the Lebanese government to establish its authority over the entire country. In the first meeting of the two leaders, issues like disarming Iran-backed Hezbollah, withdrawal of Israeli forces, American aid to the Lebanese army, reconstruction, economic reforms and American investment were also discussed.
