After carrying out military attacks on Iran for 13 consecutive days, US President Donald Trump suddenly decided to stop further action. This decision came at a time when just a day earlier he had indicated that America was preparing for a bigger attack than before. While talking to reporters on Thursday (July 23), Trump had said that Iran has not been properly harmed yet. He also said that he is considering a bigger attack than before and is very close to taking a decision. After this, America attacked Iranian military bases for the 13th consecutive night.
However, the situation changed the very next day. The Pentagon had also prepared plans for new attacks for the 14th night, yet Trump ordered to stop military action. This raised questions as to what happened within 24 hours that changed the attitude of the American President. Earlier reports had said that Trump wanted to give more opportunities for diplomatic talks. Apart from this, the American Army was also worried that the stock of missile interceptors was decreasing rapidly. Now a new report has revealed another important reason behind this decision.

Advice from top commander Admiral Brad Cooper
According to the report of Axios, Admiral Brad Cooper, the top commander of the US military in the Middle East, had advised Trump that the current military campaign has reached its limits and continuing it will not provide much benefit. Admiral Cooper said that due to two weeks of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding areas, Iran’s ability to conduct maritime attacks has been significantly weakened. He said that most of the major targets which were to be targeted had already been destroyed. He also said that in the coming time, large-scale military action can be resumed only on the remaining targets, but in the current situation there does not seem to be any special reason to continue the same level of bombing.
Why was Admiral Cooper’s advice necessary?
Admiral Cooper’s advice was one of the major factors that influenced Trump’s final decision. After this, Trump ordered a halt to new attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and the southern coastal areas of Iran. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane, also warned Trump and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth that the rapidly decreasing stock of air defense interceptor missiles could create problems for the security of American soldiers and allied countries in the future.
