Pahalgam terror attack: Between the Pahalgam attack and the ongoing tension from Pakistan, the responsibility of the Northern Command of the Indian Army will be entrusted to Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma. Lieutenant General Sharma is currently posted as Deputy Chief of the Indian Army. Prior to this, he has held DGMO in the Army Headquarters and the commander of Khadga (strike) core at Ambal. On May 1, he will take over in Udhampur.
Recently, when the Army Chief went on a tour of Srinagar, then take it. General Sharma also accompanied the security review, as he had to take over the responsibility on 1 May.

Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, is the headquarters of the Northern Command and directly takes over the responsibility of the security of LoC to the security of Jammu and Kashmir. L. General Sharma, Current Commanding in Chief. General MV will replace Suchindra Kumar who is going to retire.
Along with this, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit of Air Force is now going to become Chief (Deputy CDS) of Air Force Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit. He will give his services directly under CDS General Anil Chauhan.
Pakistani army is constantly attacking
This change has happened at a time when the Pakistani army is continuously violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control from Jammu and Kashmir. On the night of 28-29 April, the Pakistani Army also opened fire with small arms without provocation from across the Line of Control in Kupwara and Baramulla districts as well as Akhnoor sector. The Indian Army responded to this provocation in a balanced and effective manner.
Earlier, on the night of 27-28 April, Pakistan’s Army had opened fire from across the Line of Control. This firing by the Pakistani Army is being done without any provocation. While firing has been done from across the Line of Control in Kupwara and Baramulla and Akhnoor sectors on Tuesday, firing was done in the border areas of Kupwara and Poonch on the previous day. In fact, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, firing is being done from Pakistani military posts since Friday.
