The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) issued a statement on this. According to that statement, the audience was a citizen of Afghanistan who were shouting anti -Pakistan slogans. This incident came out from a picture in which Khushdil, who was not playing the game, was going across the boundary rope after the match and fighting a fan. He looked excited, while security personnel were trying to stop him.
The PCB management condemned the derogatory language of fans. It said that two Afghan audiences tried to fight Khushdil after abusing him in Pashto, which is a language spoken by the people of Pakhtun heritage in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. The PCB said that he had complained, after which the audience was thrown out. The incident took place amid growing political tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The statement made by New Zealand Cricket to ESPNcricinfo confirmed that both the spectators were thrown out after a fight with Khushdil. The statement said, βIn this incident that took place after the end of the game, Pakistani players were allegedly abused in a foreign language, which is considered to be Pashto, and there was anger response from Khushdil. Ground security prevented the incident and expelled the objectionable audiences from the campus.β
