Operation Sindoor: The sound of blasts (May 08) was heard today (May 08) in Walton, Gopal Nagar and Nasrabad areas of Lahore, Pakistan amid increasing tension with India. Rescue and fire brigade vehicles have reached the spot. According to Reuters, there are three consecutive explosions. However, it has not been officially confirmed. On the previous day, Boln Pass of Balochistan province of Pakistan was caused by an IED blast in the area, in which 12 Pakistani soldiers died. The Baloch Liberation Army has inquired about the incident.
India targeted terrorist bases
India started ‘Operation Sindoor’ late on Tuesday (May 06), under which PoK and nine terrorist bases in Punjab were targeted to avenge the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack. After this, the Pakistani Army on Wednesday (May 07) targeted heavy shells and fired mortar shells, including four children and a soldier, and 57 others were injured.
10 members of Masood Azhar’s family died
Maulana Masood Azhar, head of Jaish-e-Mohammed, admitted that 10 members of his family and four close colleagues were killed in India’s missile attack at the organization’s headquarters in Bahawalpur. Apart from this, many terrorists are also reported to have been killed.
Why did India add to the operation ‘Sindoor’?
One reference to adding the word ‘sindoor’ in this military action of India is that in the Indian tradition, married women put vermilion in their demands and it is considered a symbol of their being happy. The name ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a respect for women who lost their husbands in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April.
