Sambhaji and soyarabai: There is a ruckus about Aurangzeb in the country at this time. It is being said that Aurangzeb’s grave should be removed in Nagpur. Aurangzeb is the same person who brutally murdered Sambhaji Maharaj. Aurangzeb asked Sambhaji to confess Islam, but if he refused, he was first pulled and then his eyes were taken out. After this, Aurangzeb got his head separated from the torso. Different things are done about Sambhaji Maharaj. It is said about Shivaji’s second wife i.e. Soyarabai that Sambhaji had killed his father’s wife. But how much truth is there in this matter, let’s know.
There was a dispute with this book
A controversy erupted in the year 2021 when Girish Kubera, editor of Marathi daily newspaper, in his English book Renesa State- The Anreetan Story and Making of Maharashtra, claimed that Chhatrapati Shivaji’s wife Soyrabai was murdered by his elder son Sambhaji. It further wrote that Sambhaji killed Soyrabai and her loyalists so that there is no dispute between the successor. Shivaji’s empire was shattered due to bloodshed and Sambhaji had to pay the price. During that time there was a ruckus in Maharashtra. The BJP had talked about banning this book.
Did Sambhaji really kill Soyrabai
So was Sambhaji really murdered Soyrabai? No, this is not true. Sambhaji did not kill his step mother Soyrabai, but there is no concrete proof in history that supports this. Some historians believe that Sambhaji gave the death penalty to Soyrabai, while others say that Soyrabai died after a year and a half and Sambhaji himself performed the last rites. Some people also believe that Sambhaji was cheated by the people of his own family, when the Mughals caught him.
When did Soyrabai died
According to the official evidence, Soyrabai died on 27 October 1681, but no clear information has been found about how the death took place. According to Indrajit Samvat, a resident of Kolhapur, he says that on the basis of imagination, an attempt has been made to harm Sambhaji’s character.
