The S-400 has been created by Russia’s Almaz-Auntey. This company has made its mark worldwide by creating technologies like air defense system and cruise missiles. Almaz-Anteya was founded in the year 2002 on the orders of the President of Russia. It was created by the merger of two major military companies – NPO Almas and Ananteya Corporation. Its head quarter is in Moscow and according to the 2017 report, the company had a $ 9.125 billion defense sales, making it the eighth largest defense company in the world.
What does this company make?
Almaz-Anteya mainly prepares arms, missile systems, radars and artillery shells for air defense systems, aircraft and armored vehicles. Apart from this, this company also makes products for civil sector. These include air traffic control system, weather radar, navigation system, ventilation valve for nuclear plants, plastic packaging etc.
Many times the company has been in controversies
In 2003, the company’s Director General Igor Climov was assassinated, in which it was investigated that it was a case related to the ongoing property audit within the company. In 2014, due to the Ukraine crisis, the US imposed strict economic sanctions on this company. After this, after the Russia-Ukraine War in 2022, the European Union also put the company on the selection list. Almaz-Anteya is completely under the Russian government. Its 100% shares are with Federal Agency for State Property Management.
