Real training starts after UPSC
After selection in UPSC, candidates do not become officers directly. First of all they are given training in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). Here subjects like Administration, Constitution, Law, Economy, Public Administration and Management are taught. There is also an examination for these subjects and it is necessary to score minimum marks in all of them.
Many officers face difficulty in language test
During training, the biggest problem is seen in the local language test. It is necessary to learn the language of the state in which the officer gets the cadre and pass its test. If someone gets the cadre of South India, then he has to learn the language of that state also. Many probationers are not able to pass this exam in the first attempt.
what happens if you fail
If an IAS or IPS probationer fails in any examination during training, he is not fired from the job. The academy gives such candidates a chance to re-examine. According to the rules, the officer has to pass all the pending examinations within four years of joining the service. Most of the candidates are successful in the re-exam.
There is an advantage of getting good marks
The marks of LBSNAA examinations not only decide pass or fail, but also play an important role in future career. On the basis of these marks, seniority in the batch is decided. In future, officers who perform better may also get benefits in promotions and many administrative matters. Therefore, every test is taken seriously during training.

If discipline is broken, action may be taken
Along with studies, discipline is also strictly followed in the academy. If an officer is less present in class, skips morning PT, does not follow the dress code or misuses mobile and other electronic gadgets during training, then action can be taken against him. In such cases, action like warning, memo or deduction of marks is taken.
How is the training of LBSNAA?
LBSNAA training is considered quite challenging. Here the day starts early in the morning with PT, yoga and horse riding. After this, classes, group activities and administrative training continue throughout the day. Officers are also sent on programs like Bharat Darshan, Himalayan Trek and District Training to better understand the diversity of the country and the grassroots administration.
