Former President Hamid was among those against whom the steps taken against the protesters were being investigated during the anti -Sheikh Hasina agitation last year. Abdul Hamid was the President of Bangladesh for two terms from 2013 to 2023. He is also a co-accused in a case of murder filed against Sheikh Hasina and her colleagues during the agitation in 2024.
Former President is accused in murder case
According to a report by Dhaka Tribune, former 81-year-old President Kishoreganj is accused in the murder case registered on January 14 at Sadar police station, in which Hasina and her family members Sheikh Rehana, Saazib Vajed Joy and Zima Vajed Putul are co-accused. Former minister Obaidul Kadar is also co-accused in this case.
High level committee constituted
According to the news agency United News of Bangladesh, the interim government of Muhammad Yunus has formed a high -level committee under the leadership of Education Advisor CR Abrar to investigate former President Abdul Hamid to Thailand. His family members say that he had gone for treatment with his brother and brother -in -law, but his political opponents say he has run away to avoid trial in Bangladesh.
