Bakrid 2025 News: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) spokesperson Waris Pathan has responded to the instructions related to the alleged ban on the sale of goats for a few days on the occasion of Bakrid in Maharashtra. Describing it as a rumor, he said that till now no such official notification has been released by the Maharashtra government.
Posting on the social media platform ‘X’, Waris Pathan wrote, “The Constitution allows everyone to celebrate their own festival. Some people are spreading rumors that you cannot sell goat. The Maharashtra government has not yet taken out any such notification.”
We celebrate Bakrid by following the entire guidelines- Waris Pathan
In the post, Pathan further wrote, “Every year we celebrate the entire guidelines by following the entire guidelines and this time it will do the same. The farmer raises the goat throughout the year so that it can earn some money during Eid. Will it not harm it?”
If the government releases something like this, we will see- Waris Pathan
Waris Pathan said, “According to my knowledge, the Maharashtra government has not yet made such a statement that animals cannot be bought or sold for Bakrid. No such order or notification has been issued. If the government issues something like that in future, we will see, but there is no such official information yet.”
He further said that India is a secular country, where people of every religion celebrate their festivals together. Giving examples, he said that Hindus celebrate Holi and Diwali, Christians celebrate their festival and Muslims celebrate Bakrid, all together celebrate their festivals.
Government should issue a notification as soon as possible- Pathan
He said, “For many years we have been celebrating Bakrid by following law and government guidelines. Now if someone says that animals cannot be sold in the market from this date to that date, then it will be injustice to the farmers. Farmers raise animals throughout the year so that they can earn some income from their sales on the festival.” He demanded that the Maharashtra government should issue a clear notification as soon as possible, so that the rumors spread in the public will be stopped and the situation is clear.
The constitution allows everyone to make its own festival.
Some people are spreading rumors that you cannot buy a goat selling.
The Maharashtra government has not yet taken out any such notification.

Pathan also alleged that some elements are trying to spoil mutual harmony in the country. He said, “People are calling us, are nervous. We told them that no official decision has come yet. Some people probably do not like that 140 crore people of the country are standing with unity, so efforts are being made to spread hatred.”
