Vishal Jethwa made the first step on the red carpet with the film “Homebound” in the Cannes Film Festival 2025, which was Proud Moment not only for his career but also for Indian cinema.

To take her mother with her in Cannes was an emotional and inspirational moment, because there was a time when her mother used to sweep in the homes of others and today the same mother was walking with her on the international red carpet.

Vishal told Honanst in an interview with Zoom that before going to Cannes, he was so nervous that he wanted to leave the intention of leaving. Especially due to speaking English and not feeling comfort in the high-profile crowd there.

Vishal, while referring to his struggle, said that he used to bill a very simple poor family where his mother used to wipe the house. She also used to sell sanitary pads in supermarkets. His father used to sell coconut water.

The role played in the film ‘Homebound’ is connected to the depth of the struggles of his own life and he told how he has changed his past problems into acting and put his life in that role.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film has acted by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawala, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra. The film stars Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Jahnavi Kapoor in the lead roles.

The film Homebound was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 where the audience there stood up for nine minutes and gave a standing ovation by clapping.
