Delhi fuel ban from 1 July 2025: The Delhi government is continuously taking new steps to reduce air pollution. Now according to the new rules of the government, diesel vehicles more than 10 years old to 10 years old and petrol vehicles more than 15 years old will not be given fuel at any petrol pump. This rule has been implemented according to the instructions of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
How will the vehicles be monitored?
To implement this rule, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras will be installed at Delhiās petrol pumps. These cameras will scan the number plate of the car and recognize its age and if the car falls into the banned category, it will not be given fuel. If a person violates this rule, his car can be confiscated and legal action will also be taken against him under the Motor Vehicles Act 1989.
What is the option for car owners?
In fact, this rule is related to the orders of 2014 and 2018 in which the NGT and the Supreme Court banned the parking and operation of these old vehicles. Now since 2025, the government is also stopping fuel supply so that the rules can be strictly implemented.
If your car comes under the purview of this rule, then you have two options- first, scrapping the car to the government scraping center, in return, some incentives can be found from the government, second, transferring the car out of the NCR area, for which it will be mandatory to take NOC i.e. NOC.
Will this change the quality of air?
The government believes that this step will reduce the number of vehicles leaving old smoke on the roads of Delhi, which will improve air quality and positively affect the health of the people. Therefore, if your car is a 10 -year -old diesel or 15 year old petrol, then start preparations from now. If you want to sell the car, scrap it or upgrade in a new BS6 or electric vehicle, then do it soon.
