Umrao jaan re-boundlease: Famous filmmaker-director Muzaffar Ali’s release Cultic classic ‘Umrao Jaan’, released in 1981, is ready to knock in theaters once again. Muzaffar Ali spoke about his brilliant story, music as well as a film famous for the 19th century royal costumes.

In a conversation with news agency IANS, Muzaffar Ali said that the clothes of the film were not from the market, but from the homes and old shelves. These clothes also included the beauty of weavers’ work with a glimpse of history.

He said that the language of the film was not limited to the dialogue, but it was also expressed through the clothes of the characters. The costumes of each character were important in telling the story, which was prepared with the handmade, natural colors of that era.

Art of old fashion

Muzaffar regretted that in today’s time the clothes sold in the market left behind the era when people used to make, color and wear their clothes. He said, ‘Every scene of the film is decorated with the language of clothes. These clothes were collected from people’s homes and old places.

Handmade colors and hard work

At that time, natural colors and handmade weaving were used, not chemical -rich colors or nylon. It used to take time and hard work to make these clothes, but it used to come out as a magnificent art.

He further said, ‘In that era, people were completely immersed in making clothes, music or anything. In today’s time, those things are not found, we can say that the time has now gone.

Three decades after the release of ‘Umrao Jaan’, the film is again set to release in theaters in the 4 -year -old Reference version on 27 June.
