Ashok Sundari cursed Asura Hunda
The name Ashok Sundari means a woman who never has any sorrow. According to mythology, when Ashok Sundari became young, contrary to the wishes of mother Parvati, she went to do penance in the forest. There, Asura Hunda saw Ashok Sundari doing penance and became fascinated.
Asura Hunda proposed marriage in front of him, which Ashok Sundari rejected and said that my parents have already decided my marriage with a person named Nahusha.
After which Asura Hunda took the form of a widow with deceit and requested Ashok Sundari to walk to his place of residence. Ashok Sundari walked at the widow’s residence. After a while, when the palace of Asura Hunda came out, Ashok Sundari understood his deceit.
After which Ashok Sundari cursed the Asura Hunda and said that he will be slaughtered by Nahush. After which Ashok Sundari returned to Mount Kailash, residence of his parents with fear and despair.
Marriage of Nahush and Ashok Sundari
When Asura Hunda came to know about Nahush, he made many efforts to kill Nahusha, which proved to be failed. After this, Nahush’s parents sent him to the ashram of sage Vasistha. Where Nahusha has studied all the weapons and scriptures in the ashram and killed the Asura Hunda according to the already decided things.
Ashok Sundari and Nahush were married after the death of Asura Hunda. Both got a beautiful son. Whose name was Yayati. It was Yayati who founded Yaduvanshi and Purveenshi. Those who later become ancestors of the Kauravas and Pandavas, the hero of Mahabharata.
Nahush became king of heaven
According to Hindu scripture, Nahusha was the ruler of the lunar dynasty. Nahusha was the son of age, who was the eldest son of Purva and his mother Prabha who was the daughter of Swara Bhanu.
