IND vs Eng Second Test Day 1 Highlights: India scored 309 runs at the loss of five wickets at the end of the first day of the second Test of the series being played against England in Edgbaston. England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul landed to start the innings for India. Rahul flopped and was dismissed for just 2 runs. Indian captain Shubman Gill landed at number four to bat. Gill shared a 66 -run partnership for the third wicket with Jaiswal. Jaiswal missed the opportunity of century. When the team’s score was 161 runs, Jaiswal was dismissed as the third wicket by scoring 87 runs.
After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Gill and Pant shared a 47 -run partnership for the fourth wicket. When the team’s score was 208, Pant was dismissed for 25 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy was also dismissed soon after scoring just one run as the fifth wicket.
Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja did not let the Indian team suffer after this. Gill scored the seventh century of his Test career. Gill is unbeaten by scoring 114 runs in 216 balls with the help of 12 fours. Ravindra Jadeja with him is unbeaten on 41 runs with the help of five fours in 67 balls. There has been a 99 -run partnership between the two. If the Indian team has to make a big score, then both these batsmen will have to expand their innings on the second day.
