Successful transplant of brain dead donor’s foot tendon, AIIMS Gorakhpur created history

Gorakhpur AIIMS has succeeded in successfully transplanting a woman of Achilles Tendon (a type of muscle found in the leg). This is the first time a patient has undergone surgery, in which Achilles Tendon has been transplanted from brain dead donor.

In fact, a 40 -year -old woman from Gauri Bazar in Gorakhpur had a problem of swelling and pain in the calves of both legs for many years. Investigation revealed that there has been a kind of tumor in Tendon. In order to remove the tumor, the left leg tendon had to be completely removed in the first operation, due to which the patient was not able to run properly.

Brain dead person’s muscle transplant

The doctors of Gorakhpur AIIMS decided to do surgery for the woman as the woman’s suffering increased. The doctors of AIIMS then successfully transplanted the Achilles Tendon obtained from the brain dead donor for the patient. According to the information, this muscle was brought from the Novo Tissue Bank in Mumbai and was prepared in such a way that the patient did not need to give immunity to the body’s immunity.

Woman will start running in six months

Doctors say that after the surgery is successful, this muscle will slowly connect in the woman’s body. In about 3 months, the patient will also start running partially and in six months he is expected to recover. The team of doctors also included Dr. Vivek Kumar, Dr. Ashutosh, Dr. Dilip, Dr. Priyanka Dwivedi and Dr. Abhishek.
