Captain Stokes fined, ICC pronounced decision
The ICC issued a statement stating that during the Lord’s Test, the England team was left behind by two overs, on which the match referee Richie Richardson has taken action. England captain Ben Stokes and his team have been fined 10 percent of the match fees.
According to the ICC, “According to Section 2.22 of the ICC, 5% of the match fee is fined for reducing each over. At the same time, according to Rule 16.11.2, WTC, one digit is deducted on the delay of each over. In this case, England’s 2 -over has been cut off from WTC due to his two overs being low.”
How did Sri Lanka benefit
England’s two points have also had a major impact on his WTC rankings. England have now reduced from 24 to 22 points. Due to which his point percent (PCT) has also come down from 66.67% to 61.11%.
The Sri Lankan team got the direct benefit of this, which has now reached second place with 66.67% points, while England has slipped to number three.

At the same time, Australia has won all three Test matches by performing better and is at the top with 100% points. India currently ranks fourth in the WTC points table with 33.33% points.
