Monsoon in the country at its peak, Yellow alert issued for Himachal, what is the update from UP-Bihar to Kerala?

The monsoon is at its peak in the country. Different areas of NCR, including the capital Delhi, received rain on Wednesday (16 July 2025). According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh during July 17-20.

Apart from this, heavy rains are expected in many districts of western Uttar Pradesh during Jammu and Kashmir on July 17, 16-20 July. At the same time, the Meteorological Department estimates that in the coming days, Delhi NCR may receive even more rainfall. Due to rain, the mercury has seen a decline, due to which people have got relief from the heat, but due to waterlogging on the roads, the problems of the people have increased.

Light to moderate rain is expected in North India
Apart from the capital Delhi, light to moderate rains are being expected in the entire North India including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan for the next one week. At the same time, there is a possibility of torrential rains in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh. Yellow alert of rain has been issued for Thursday in 7 districts of Himachal Pradesh. In the coming two days, there will be a situation of yellow alert in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts.

Possibility of heavy rains in Rajasthan
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in many areas of Rajasthan on Thursday. During this time, heavy rains are expected in Jodhpur, Bikaner, parts of Ajmer division and heavy rains at some places.

Orange alert issued in 5 districts of Kerala
In many parts of Kerala, the water level of the rivers increased due to rain on Wednesday (16 July 2025), after which the Meteorological Department has alerted people by issuing orange alert in 5 districts. Orange alert has been issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, Trishur, Kannur and Kasargod districts. The department has issued a Yellow alert for the remaining 9 districts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, rain continues due to 2 western disturbances in north-west India, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. It is likely to continue for the next few days.
