Brian Lara’s shocking disclosure, 5 days spent in the bathroom in the debut test, Sir Vivian Richards insulted?

Brian Lara, former West Indies captain and one of the biggest legends in cricket history, recently narrated an anecdote related to his debut test, which has surprised the cricket fans. Lara, called ‘Prince of Port of Spain’, said that when he first shared the team with Sir Vivian Richards, the beginning was not like a dream but a scary story.

Welcomed by throwing bags!

Brian Lara said on a podcast called ‘Stick to Cricket’ that when he was selected in the West Indies team in his first Test in Trinidad, he reached for practice at 8 am, while the team reporting in the letter was written at 9 am. When all the legendary players Vivian Richards, Gordon Greenies, Desmond Hayans, Malcolm Marshall reached the dressing room, Lara also greeted that he went and met him because all those players were no less than a hero for him.

But as soon as Lara reached near the dressing room, his cricket bag came out of the dressing room and his entire belongings were scattered. Lara covered the bag back and quietly went inside and sat near the bathroom.

5 days … just in the bathroom

Lara said, “While I had kept my bag, Sir Vivian Richards used to keep his bag. Perhaps he did not like to put the bag in his place. After that I had spent the first 5 days of my career in the bathroom of the dressing room.”

Hearing this, every cricket fan may get a shock, but it tells how much pressure there was for new players in the dressing room, especially when the team is full of veterans.

Used to listen to commentary in childhood in childhood

Lara shared another beautiful anecdote of her childhood in this conversation. He said that he and his brother used to wake up all night to listen to the commentary on the radio during the Australia tour in 1975-76. He said, “There were three bedrooms in our house. My father used to allow us to listen to the commentary of the first session. After that there was a school, so it was necessary to sleep.”
